Laura Hagg was hired as the City Manager in July, 2021 and returned to her home town, where she is responsible for managing all essential city services and works closely with the leadership team of department directors to support community growth, increase Frankfort’s quality of life, and work towards achieving Frankfort’s vision statement: To be an innovative, inclusive, sustainable city known as a national model for citizen engagement, progress, and economic vitality.
Laura’s career includes more than 30 years of experience in the public, private, and non-profit sectors in the United States and internationally in the fields of local governance, economic development, public outreach, communications, and strategic policy efforts.
Prior to Frankfort, Laura worked internationally with local and national governments for a dozen years including long term assignments in Jordan, Tunisia and Ukraine. Laura also served as the Director, Middle East & Africa Programs for the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), where she led governance programs, drafted proposals and captured new business for the association. She also has experience in helping to build more resilient communities by helping them prepare, mitigate, respond and recover from disasters.
Laura is a graduate of Frankfort High School and has a Bachelors of Arts in History with Honors from Smith College; Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Colorado, Denver; and a Masters in International Policy and Practice from The George Washington University.
